:::The story:::

An evil King steals an magical emerald/amulet from a small planet that's home to the "Hero" character. With it's emerald stolen the planets defenses are low and all nature/life on the planet starts to fade (plants die, rives dry out). The king makes it into a necklace and wears it with pride, it makes him more powerful and his army grows. His reason for stealing it is to not only give him more power but to also expand his own planets population by brain-washing his minions to kneel before him and serve him for whatever his needs are.

Your job is to get it back...

With the Kings minions targeting you as the enemy to protect their leader, you are faced with a tough but rewarding challenge!

I'll be updating this post with character Bio's and stuff, I'm actually developing a small command based (console) program
that has all information on the game including character bio's.

Maybe you could include a megaman style stage select or whatever along those lines. But yeah can't wait to see this put into fruition

Keep it simple yet memorable, something quest or adventure.

Looking good BC. Though I would advice you to relabel the DLC as unlockable content. Saves a lot of hassle.

Yeah that's true.

I've sent an image to the artist who's going to sketch up a game enemy for me. It's your typical alien style resemblance but with a visible enlarged brain (which is it's weak spot).

I'll keep the attribute list simple but here are the stats:

Life: Low
Attack: Weak
Speed: Fast

Skills:
*Has the ability to teleport (relative to the player not screen)
*Has razor sharp claws
*Can call backup in numbers


I'll post the sketch as soon as I get it sent to me. Also when I get more done on the game and progress more I'll make a proper childboard and organize stuff.

I've made a lot of changes to the idea of the game, it's still a platform game, however it will be more of a shooting style platform game with lots of weapons and powerups. I'm currently making a prototype in GameMaker Studio. Eventually I would like to code it in C++ with SDL.

Well guys, it's been a while. Apologies for my absence, I lost the internet for a couple of weeks!
while I have been gone I've been religiously learning GML (gamemaker programming language) and I've managed to get something together. PLEASE NOTE: this video does not show the OFFICIAL graphics of Gozo, infact I've just drawn a stickman and some silly visuals as temporary place holders to get the actual system to work.

Please throw ideas at me, I've take them on board so far. Nothing is a limit so go wild I was even thinking of when the gun runs out of ammo (or any gun for that matter) he throws the gun at the enemy lol.

I'm gonna add wall climbing later on because his hands (the actual character sprite) are big and he's strong.

P.S The bullet frame rate is 60fps so youtube killed it.

But yeah good start, I like the whole run and gun sidescroller idea a lot, it's a genre that's not had much love in recent years.

still haven't recieved any game graphics yet, so you'll have to all put up with the generic stuff haha. Just some improvements, active menu, sign posts with hints, transition to next part of the level. More to come, I hope to have a full inventory system in place in the next update, with more weapons and melee attacks.

Hey BC what software did you use to create that game? Im gunning to try my hands in full games like that to create with a friend when i get my new PC.....
