GameMaker Studio. (standard edition is now free grab it with no limitations) or "borrow" the master or pro edition . C or C++ knowledge is recommended if you're coding the game, else there's the novice drag and drop system, which is fine if you just wanna make something quick. Coding gives you 100% freedom with no limitations, so you can make whatever you want.

Nice stuff, if I may make a suggestion, I would pull the character back a bit more towards the center of the screen when running. I say this because the character runs so fast that some players may find themselves running into enemies by accident and likely causing cheap deaths; a few 2D platformers are guilty of these, or slow down the default run speed slightly.

you can jump on smaller enemies like bugs instead of using a weapon. (to save ammo)
That would be quite cool though to have other ways to kill the enemy, like drop something like a rock off a ledge onto an enemy below and stuff.

(to save ammo) That would be quite cool though to have other ways to kill the enemy, like drop something like a rock off a ledge onto an enemy below and stuff. if theres going to be enemy types that you cant stomp. I have an idea for an enemy, you could make a enemy that use stationary turrets that can be only destroyed by stomping it, after you stomp on it, you make it into a normal enemy.

Looking good even without official game art. Turn down the sound effect for when you pick up a gem, even without headphones it's a bit loud.

when the character spin jumps, why doesn't the waepon spin with it?
is there a limit of ammo? if so, will there be an ammo count bar?

Yes there is a limit of ammo and there will be various ammo pickups through the game but don't expect it too generous. Yes there will also be a HUD expect a basic one in the next update along with much more. Thanks for showing interest in this project guys it means alot that people are seeing more than just my mugen stuff, I have lots more to offer than that.

That's a neat idea, I wanna make it more realistic though rather than the mario style stomping (shown in my video) I'm going to actually change that to a certain command move when you hold down while jumping and press attack and he does a full force stamp, with bug splatter As for the turret, maybe I'll just make grenades only blow it up or something? (rockets ect)

That's a feature I haven't considered, but may consider. Thanks for your suggestions they're taken on board. GOOD NEWS!!!!! I've commisioned an artist from deviant art so you should be seeing some big changes soon Little update, the sub boss/boss now attacks. I just thought I'd throw a repuuken in there for the fun of it haha.
