ARCADE STICKSshould I get one?I've been thinking about it since a hour ago, some of my reasons of getting one is to become really good in fighting games and feel the nostalgia of being in an arcade and playing against a stranger or your friends. I think I should make my own arcade stick rather than buying a built one Reasons: I could easily shape my own arcade stick into how I want it... Seriously though, should I get one, if so should I build one or buy one?

Arcade sticks have always been a matter of opinion and personal preference TBH. Just to put this out there, the stick alone probably won't greatly improve how you play, atleast IMO; though you will probably meet people who swear by the stick and will absolutely with no doubt say it as fact and claim it to be the best way to play. For me, it's never been my preference to play with it (partially due to never being able to find a damn one anywhere), maybe it's just the extra movement for me that's makes it not my personal ideal way. I personally prefer these things or even just a regular controller if I feel lucky, they are really ideal for me for 3D fighting games (Soul Calibur and Tekken Tag 2 is where I'm best with these) Again it's a personal preference, these are just more comfortable to me, and might not be to you. Who know you may actually really like it and get really good at it and find the stick more comfortable to you; and if you really want one then by all means go at it. Maybe if a friend or someone happens to have one you could try it out and see how it feels? Best advice I could probably give you for this anyways ¯\_(・ε・)_/¯

All of my friends don't play fighting games, they play sports games and GTA V . What really made me want an arcade stick is THE HITBOXThe hitbox looks really cool and stuff, btw I didn't knew they made controllers with arcade stick layouts. I looked up the prices of some arcade sticks I wanted and their prices are crazy which were $200+, for a 14-year old like me. It's a lot of money and I can't get a job yet. The last time I got to touch an arcade stick was like 2 years ago, because my relatives play fighting games and you were only allowed to use arcade sticks, so I had to use one and beat one of them in SFIV with Dan(Top-Tier Best Shoto) EDIT: Also this video in the past made me want one too.

All of my friends don't play fighting games, they play sports games and GTA V Wow, that really is unfortunate D: I know that feel... (those controllers are pretty beast for guys like me ) Yeah main problem with arcade sticks is that they do typically demand crazy prices, which is too much even for me If you are sure you'd want to get one, then you're best bet is probably building one, I'm sure someone here might be able to help with that.

I use Pads and Arcadesticks as well For me: Hori Wireless Arcade Stick Tekken 6 Edition (I bought the Tekken 6 Arcade Stick Edition before a long time), has a good usage for Fighting Games, works for PC games as well. And wasnt that expensive. Also I use: The Street Figher X Tekken Fightpad (PS3-Edition) which is working for PC too and is very awesome for Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition on PC too. You can go with Arcade Sticks or Fight Pads. Both are very good, but an Arcade Stick is harder to learn I think. The Fight Pads are my decision at the moment, because you can handle them better as the big Arcade Sticks. An friend of me is only using Arcade Sticks. Build one is no option for me because Iam very lazy on something like that xD.

After thinking it through, I have decided to just buy an arcade stick as because I have to buy all these tools and safety stuff with it. Which would cost me over 100+ Dollars. Instead after searching a bunch of arcade sticks through Amazon and eBay, Best Buy had a hori fighting stick Which would only cost me 65+ Dollars.

I have a custom hitbox that I made myself, and before that I used a cheap madcatz SE stick. Personally I can't imagine playing fighting games without them, as a semi-serious player, but it's not essential. My friend who taught me how to play SFIV and is still better than me plays exclusively on PS3 pad, 'cause it's what he's used to. I have another friend who plays mainly on keyboard, any method is viable, it's what you find best yourself. If you are serious about a game and want to maximise your potential, a fightstick isn't a bad purchase, but I don't recommend buying one until you can already play to an acceptable level without.
