XBox One to be Available without Kinect

Microsoft confirmed on Tuesday that it will begin offering its latest game console, the Xbox One, without the Kinect peripheral for US$399 on June 9 "in all markets where Xbox One is sold." That brings the Xbox One's price down to the same level as its main competitor, the Sony PlayStation 4.



Microsoft added that it will offer "popular entertainment apps" to all Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners, even those without an active XBox Live Gold membership. Starting in June, a Gold membership will earn free games as well as discounts on both Xbox One and Xbox 360.



Xbox One originally launched with the bundled Kinect on November 21 for US$499. The Xbox One will ship in Japan on September 4, and 48 game makers registered to offer titles for the console. As of last month, Microsoft reported that it shipped five million Xbox One consoles worldwide.

Finally! My last remaining complaint about the XB1 has been adressed! Now I can start considering buying the kinect-less version

I'm still personally not willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for either the PS4 or Xbox One, especially with having to pay just to play some video games online, this Gen hasn't really gained my interest to be honest.

But hey, one less problem with the Xbox One to worry about, which is good I suppose.

Also, it'd be nice to include an article or two from where you may have gotten that from, for reference or something I don't know .-.

I feel like the Xbox One is trying to play catch up with the PS4. Though a small lead, PS4 is proving to be a better console for the majority of the community, and while Microsoft is making some strides to close the gap, they are going to need to do more to sway the opinions of some people. This being said, good on them for beginning to get with the program.
